 Ana took 10 years of piano and regularly accompanied string students for Fairfax County Public Schools Solo Ensembles and Festivals when she lived in Fairfax VA. She also studied music pedagogy, and Suzuki piano. Ana is Suzuki Trained and received her training from Ronda Cole, her former Suzuki violin teacher. Ana has also attended various music education conferences and lectures at Levine School of Music and Catholic University. Ana has remained active throughout the past 10 years, promoting music education in Loudoun County Public Schools and promoting the LCPS & FCPS strings programs and working with various teachers in both Loudoun County and Fairfax County Public Schools music programs. Ana ran several music studios in Fairfax Virginia through different music organizations such as Music and Arts. Ana has been teaching music, general classroom music, music theory and private violin/viola/cello/beginner piano music lessons for over 10 years. She has a thriving in-home music studio; “Ana’s Strings Studio” in Leesburg


My job is a passion for me, and it brings me joy to be able to share this passion with my students. From day one, they learn important foundational techniques to help them boost their skills and self-esteem. MY BACKGROUND

A Little Bit More About Me

Ana Rosario Quijano, graduated from George Mason University and was an active musician/contributor in the George Mason University Music Department, where she studied violin with Edwin Johannott, was a recipient of a school scholarship and achieved an Honor Recital. While at George Mason, she has held the position of Principle of the 2nd Violin Section of the George Mason University Symphony Orchestra and  Concertmaster in the George Mason Chamber Orchestra. Ana is one of the founding sisters of the Mu Epsilon Sigma Alpha Iota at George Mason University, helping to start the chapter at Mason and then continuing to participate as an alumnae. She has performed at the Virginia Music Educators Association National Conference on several occasions and as Concert Soloist in the Millennium Stage Recital Series at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, for which she was also a featured musician. She has also performed with the Shenandoah Summer Music Theater Pit Orchestra, served as Principal of the Prince William Symphony Orchestra and various performances during high school with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington DC as part of the competitive National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship Program.

Ms. Quijano has also led an active role in chamber music, collaborating with the Cathedral Street Strings, the St. Charles String Quartet and several sacred music performances at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the National Cathedral in Washington DC, and local Catholic/Lutheran/Episcopal churches.  Ana has received extensive training in the orchestra and performing, field studying with Elisabeth Adkins, Former Associate Concertmaster of The National Symphony Orchestra and under the auspices of the National Symphony Youth Fellowship Program and the tutelage of Music Directors Leonard Slatkin (former) and Emil de Cou. She has also participated in master classes from world famous concert soloists Gil Shaham, Ann Akiko Meyers and Midori.

In 2000, Ana participated in a successful Suzuki concert tour “Corazon a Corazon” to Bolivia with the violin studio of Ronda Cole. Ana won her first music competition when she was 7 and since then, has competed and won in many different competitions throughout the tri-state area. Ana has also had the honor to perform for several Air Force and Navy promotion ceremonies during her time working for the Navy in a civilian.

 In 2012, she moved to Florida and got the position of General Music Teacher and Music Director at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and School in Hialeah FL

Since then Ana has moved back to the Virginia area and started working at The Goddard School in Leesburg till she decided to become a stay at home mom to her baby girl and work as a music teacher at Music and Arts. She since has left Music and Arts to start her own private studio. Ana has been teaching music, general classroom music, music theory and private violin/viola/cello/beginner piano music lessons for over 10 years. She has a thriving in-home music studio; “Ana’s Strings Studio” in Leesburg where she currently lives with her husband and two girls.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO YOU HAVE SPECIFIC TEACHING QUALIFICATIONS?

Yes, I have experience teaching both in public and private schools as well as private individual lessonsthrough organizations such as Music and Arts.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR YOUR TEACHING SERVICES AND HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

I charge $34/30 min session and $68/ 1 hour session. Lessons are billed on a monthly basis and due the first day of each month. I send out invoices the last week of the previous month via e-mail. I use PayPal or checks as forms of payments.

WHERE DO YOU TEACH LESSONS?

I hold lessons in my music studio located at my home in my basement. Students & parents have access to my studio using the side gate or garage which offer direct access to my studio.

DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN SPECIFIC METHODS OF TEACHING?

I was trained to teach Suzuki Method but I also teach Traditional as well. If my students are in school orchestras- I work with them on their school music as well in additional to scales and solo pieces. I customize each lesson and what is taught and worked on based on the individual student and their needs and skill level.

WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH?

I teach children as early as 4 years old to adults of any age.

WHAT IS YOUR STUDIO LIKE AND ARE PARENTS ALLOWED?

The safety of my students is one of my top priorities. My studio is a large basement room with two windows and a door with a window that leads in and out of my studio from the backyard. My studio is a fulling functioning music room equipped with a piano, music stand and a sitting area for parents or students.  There is a hallway where students can wait for their lessons or get set up. 

The backyard is also equipped with chairs if parents or siblings would like to wait outside. 

Parents are always welcome to sit in during the lesson or check in on their child at any time. The windows and door offer parents an opportunity to check on their child without disrupting the lesson. 

FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILD, HAVE YOU GONE THROUGH BACKGROUND CHECKS AND BEEN VETTED?

I have been vetted by every organization I have worked for. I worked as a teacher assistant for Loudoun County Public Schools, I worked as a Classroom Music teacher for a private school in Florida, worked for College as Nannies and Tutors, taught at The Goddard School and I have taught with Music and Arts for over 7 years. I am also certified in CPR, First Aid and AED for children and adults.

DO YOU HAVE A STUDIO POLICY?

When a student signs up for lessons, they receive a welcome folder. In the welcome folder is my Studio Policy which has to be signed by both the student and the parent. There is also additional information included in the welcome packet along with a liability waiver form.
